History repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as farce.' After the French Revolution, Karl Marx observed the history repeating phenomenon and wrote down this expression in <18th Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte>. I think that this expression still has the power to cover our problems which are related to our realistic worries, each people's problems and so on. This story is trying to tell about vanity. Through small animation, clinging to desire which is not involved in desirable human character, would give me vanity. special points are character's cloth, background, and props. Two main characters who wear Korean traditional cloth 'hanbok' are getting in trouble in past and future background. Even though culture and technology are getting higher and higher, human's defect still doesn't change at all. Also, I changed the meaning and role of the swallow. Through this change, I tried to emphasize my message which is related to vanity. I don't have authority or right to give some correction to people who are watching my work. However, I hope that my work would be the accelerator to make people think what is the meaningful life as a human being. It is also good access, to understand my work as a farce which is made a caricature of our fugacious world.

History repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as farce.' 마르크스가 프랑스 혁명 후 벌어진 역사 반복현상을 관찰하고 쓴 <루이 보나파르트의 브뤼메르 18일>에서 남긴 표현이다. 역사가 비극과 연극을 통해 반복, 재생산된다는 문구가 지금 살아가고 있는 현실의 사건, 개인의 문제, 공동체의 문제, 더 큰 범위의 문제에 이르기까지 여전히 통용되고 공감할 수 있는 문장이라 생각했다. 이 이야기는 애니메이션이라는 작은 이야기를 통해 '사람의 사람 됨'이 빠진 욕망만 좇는 삶이 주는 허무함에 대해 말하려고 한다. 특징적인 내용은 등장인물들의 의상과 배경, 소품이다. 두 주인공은 우리나라 전통의상을 입고 과거와 미래를 배경 안에서 갈등을 겪는다. 문화와 기술이 아무리 발전해도 과거 인간의 모습과 다르지 않은 인간의 모습을 두 가지 배경 속에 등장하는 전통의상을 입은 주인공들을 통해 드러내려 했다. 또한, 제비를 욕망의 알레고리로 치환하여 기존에 알고 있는 인물 간의 관계와 갈등을 전하고자 한 메시지에 맞게 변형했다. 행동적인 지침은 내려줄 순 없지만, 우리가 인간답게 산다는 게 무엇일지에 대한 고민의 씨앗이 되기도 하고, 허무한 현실을 희화화한 작업 자체로 이해해도 의미 있는 접근이라고 생각한다.
