In 1321, Dante Alighieri has completed 『Divina Commedia』, his imaginative travelogue to heaven, hell and purgatory. Especially 『Inferno』 stands out among them, illustrating detailed and elaborate scenes, textures, odors and screams in hell. Dante later mentioned that it was easier to portray 『Inferno』 realistically since our world resembles Hell far more than Heaven. As extracted below, Dante makes best uses of his bodily senses to depict what the he saw, heard, smelled and felt in hell. “But longer I my feet already toast, and here have been in this way upside down. Than he will planted stay with reddened feet.”
Basic rules and elements which constructs the infernal world are based on Dante’s description. Various geological features which build up the ground part of the world is determined by evaluating the degree of emotional reward and material reward that sinner has acquired as a result of sin. Then, various creatures and small topographical elements, which are determined by types and intensity of the sins, goes above each units of the ground. Completed map of the world shows where the sinner will eventually face in his afterlife as a result of his sins. This map of his own inferno, which is built under this hell-constructing rules, is based on various official and unofficial records of Mr.Y’s sins and crimes, ranging from September, 2003 to July, 2004.
