From the teenager to the twenties, we (Korean youth) have been endeavoring to be a talented person of the future in a fixed frame. Nowadays, what is happening inside our mirror? I explored in the mirror of our youth, through two different self-explanations.
First Self-introduction: Self-novel by Body Parts Until now, we have been competing for a similar goal by conforming to a given frame. We (the majority) have lived for a higher number, a brighter background. In addition, in a situation where the youth have to pack themselves with a variety of 'specs' and special stories, many people call their self-introduction a 'self-novel'. In such circumstances, lectures for resume and self-introduction are popular, and even self-introduction plagiarism often appear. What are we looking for in it? How does ‘self-novel’ actually resemble me? In this context (of Korean youth), shows an idealized self-collage to survive. If you collect and combine ideal body parts such as eyes, mouth, ears, chest, and so on, you will have a portrait that is not found anywhere. It is perfect, but this anonymous portrait makes us feel uncomfortable rather than charm. Is the final goal we want to achieve really look like this?
Second Self-introduction: Inside My Mirror is a true self-explanation that takes away the spectacular modifiers and looks at me as it is. In this project, I wanted to show the true anxieties and thoughts that I have in my mid-twenties, in order to draw the true understanding of today’s 20 generation. The poster reveals my portrait without any addition or distortion, and contrasts with the 'self-novel'. In a book containing details, body parts such as eyes, ears, hands, and heart become storytellers. It starts with a bitter story about the difficulty of each body part, and includes thoughts about the independent life and why I should love myself. </div>
</div>
