From June of 2015 to July of 2016, I took a trip around the world. While passing through 17 countries, things I saw, heard and felt were left in my daybook. Records of my expenses I have filled in every single day of my trip are now making me recall the moments that are gradually fading away from my memory. Time and place that I have been, countless feelings stuck in my head that time, people I encountered by amazing coincidence revive in those numerous number. Thus I wanted to transform these moments in the raw to something shaped firmly so that I can keep the time I spent on the road for a longer time. By adding visual records to fragmentary traces, the memory of trip gets clear and vivid.
First of all, I decided to borrow the receipt form to organize my daybook. Place and time where the expenses were made, detailed list of spend and subtotal were placed in the form. 386 receipts made in this form were printed out and hung on both side of the exhibition stand. Scraps of memory found from short numbers and simple words were fleshed out by books placed in the middle of the exhibition stand. In this process, the daybook is expanded to many different forms, such as writing, photo, drawing and scribble, on the pages of the books which are connected to the receipts by numbering system.
The title of my project, <1/1>, refers to both my daybook and the whole trip completed by trivial days I spent. I hope people can see what I was like in those days and feel what my trip meant to me in the end.
