Liaozhaizhiyi is a kind of fantasy literature of the 17th century China. The author Pusongling was excellent in writing, but repeatedly failed the royal examinations. Since then, he has worked as a tutor and has compiled strange tales for the rest of his life. In this noble, the strange beings make relationships with human beings. This illogical world can be a good stage for revealing the desire to hide. However, the desire was just for intellectual men.
I was dissatisfied with this, so picked up 8 of the 500 short stories and rewrote them. The imaginary author, ‘Shuoniang’, was talented in writing, but could not become an author just because she was an woman. She wanted to care women characters who suffered from patriarchy at the original Liaozhaizhiyi, however, could only use the thread and the needle to express her inspiration. That made the whole imaginations gloomy. Nevertheless it might be a consolation for oppressed minorities who could not change anything.
I bound 8 pieces reinterpreted from the standpoint of female characters as a picture book. The main image was printed on linen (116*220cm), and stitched with colorful fabrics and accessories.
