‘Spinoff, <Hi-Bye, Dunchon APT>’ is a side-project consists of a book and a short film which introduce story of twelve people who have made the project <Hi-Bye, Dunchon APT>. <Hi-Bye, Dunchon APT> is the project started from an indie publication that archives Dunchon apartment which will be soon torn down due to its rebuilding construction. By various cultural collaboration based on Dunchon apartment, the project has been providing a solid platform where people from the apartment can share their thoughts and stories about the place. Chief editor In-Kyu Lee made a hideout at an arcade located in the apartment complex, which made it possible for many other people who are, and has lived at the apartment to actively participate in the project. Throughout these progress, publication of <Hi-Bye, Dunchon APT> could be issued till its fourth volume with lots of love and attention. ‘Spinoff, <Hi-Bye, Dunchon APT>’ literally tells you the hidden stories of people who were there when the project <Hi-Bye, Dunchon APT> was made and got bigger. Since only about a year has left till the end of the project, which is around the end of when people all move out from the apartment complex, ‘Spinoff, <Hi-Bye, Dunchon APT>’ is a side project that lets you know what sort of inside stories all those people including chief editor and collaborator have about the apartment that made them want to take part in this project with no compensation. Through the short film of this spinoff project, you can find out the overall background situation and basic information of Dunchon apartment, along with <Hi-Bye, Dunchon APT> and its spinoff project in a timely order. And from the book, which is the main output of the spinoff project, you can see what kind of conversation I myself had with those 12 people, as a ‘Dunchon kid’ who was born in the apartment as well.
